The Royale Chest Set is a laser-cut birch ply chess set with storage and fretwork. it is a striking blend of modern precision and traditional craftsmanship. The laser’s ability to cleanly cut intricate details without splintering enables breathtaking lattice and filigree work that mimics antique woodcarving. 
The Case Structure: The outer box is constructed from multi-layered birch ply. The box edges feature interlocking tab-and-slot joints that fit together seamlessly. 
Integrated Storage: The board itself usually serves as the lid. It lifts off to reveal a velvet-lined interior. This inner compartment is sectioned off with fitted dividers that are also laser-cut to hold the pieces securely in place during transit.
The Fretwork Details: The defining characteristic of this build is the intricacy of the vector lattice work produced. The sides of the storage box feature elaborate, laser-cut silhouettes cut straight through the birch ply, allowing light and shadow to pass through. The fretwork is scaled and layered, using a thick ply for the structural support and a thinner, contrasting sheet of birch ply for the ornate, lace-like overlay. 
The Chess Pieces: The pieces are cut from thin birch ply (typically 3mm or 4mm thick) to emphasize their two-dimensional, silhouette-style design. The bodies of the Kings, Queens, and Bishops are heavily pierced with cut-outs, giving the set an open, airy, and delicate look while still clearly representing the classic Staunton chess forms. 
Stacking Bases: To ensure the pieces can stand upright on the board, they are designed to slot into sturdy, multi-layered laser-cut bases glued together to give the pieces a three-dimensional, weighty feel.
